District leaders and principals in innovative schools aren’t just operations managers – they serve as instructional leaders who create cultures in which all students are successful. The annual leadership institute, LEAD, provides an intensive three-day summer experience for participants focused on the knowledge and skills, attitudes and beliefs, and norms of professional behaviors for leaders. Using self-reflection as the primary tool, participants learn how to leverage their own effectiveness by analyzing leadership competencies using self-assessments. Participants engage in personalized professional development, and leave the institute with an individualized leadership growth plan that is used as a tool for coaching throughout the year.
