Designed for a school team including the principal and influential math teachers, especially teachers of Math I and Math II.
The Math Design Collaborative (MDC) aims to improve student mathematics skills and to prepare students for success in college and the workplace through a series of workshops across three years (8 days in year 1, 4 days in year 2, and 2 days in year 3 for teachers; 2 days in year 1, 1 day in year 2, and 1 day in year 3 for administrators). Classroom Challenges embed formative assessment strategies and serve as the central focus of the MDC professional learning, which is designed to help math teachers (grades 6 through Math III) to enact the Challenges and shift instructional practices to incorporate formative assessment and collaborative learning strategies in their classrooms every day.
The series begins with one two-day session plus a one-day follow up session and coaching visit in spring 2015.
