McDowell Early College Principal Lisa Robinson has been selected by her fellow principals as the 2015-2016 Principal of the Year for McDowell County Schools.
Robinson will compete against 20 other principals in Region 7 for a chance to be the Regional Principal of the Year in December.
The eight regional principals of the year will then be considered for the honor of State Principal of the Year later in the spring.
Superintendent Mark Garrett said he is glad that Robinson will represent McDowell in the contest.
“Lisa has served the students of McDowell County for 25 years as a teacher, coach, program specialist, and principal,” said Garrett. “Her efforts have always been focused on what is best for students, and that is clearly evident in her consistently outstanding results at McDowell Early College. We are very proud of her as our representative in the Principal of the Year process.”
Robinson was appointed as the first principal of McDowell Early College back in 2006 and has served in that role ever since.
McDowell Early College is an NC New Schools/Breakthrough Learning network school.
