For eight years, Cleveland Early College High School has provided an alternative learning environment for some of Cleveland County’s hardest working students.

The school, which is located on the campus of Cleveland Community College, is a part of the Cleveland County Schools and is an alternative environment that offers high school and college credits that will transfer to any public school in the state, Principal Titus Hopper said.

Hopper said the school currently has 202 students, and they enroll cohorts of 55 incoming freshman each year. It’s a five-year program, but he said many students finish in four.

“For the most part, this is an opportunity,” Hopper said. “I want kids to understand that this is a way for them to get a real jumpstart on college.”
