The start of the school year is almost two months away, but preparations are well under way for the first 75 ninth graders in the Pitt County Early College High School located on the Pitt Community College campus.
Tonight, students and parents will be introduced to their teachers for the first time at a meet-and-greet. Next week, the staff will attend the North Carolina New Schools summer institute and, in late July, they will attend an Advancement Via Individual Determination, or AVID, training program that will be used with the students.
The early college high school will open on Aug. 10. In just five years, the students will have earned both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree.
